Results of the Medsanbat project
Victor and Elena Pinchuk developed the project to address this problem and already in early October 2014 Medsanbat project was launched to respond to this gap. The project was designed to provide trainings on tactical medicine according to NATO standards to doctors, medical personnel, volunteers and soldiers and to supply doctors in combat zone with fully equipped medical backpacks.
Until the end of 2015, Medsanbat has trained more than 5,000 people in 40 trainings in all parts of Ukraine, including the combat zone. 150 doctors and medical professionals were equipped with backpacks during this period with the pledge to refill all used supplies.
A substantial number of those who underwent the trainings work now in the ATO zone - as doctors, volunteers and soldiers, many are in the front lines working in all segments of medical aid from first aid to the wounded to evacuation in main hospitals in Ukraine.
In 2015 with the assistance of Medsanbat team the new National Standards of training Ukrainian army combat medics were developed and published. Medsanbat paid special attention to develop capacities of government structures: in 2015 professors of medical colleges and universities along with trainers team from Military and Medical Academy of Ukraine were trained as teachers on combat medicine. New Kiev Patrol service training team was created and trained by Medsanbat in October 2015. These teams will be training specialists in tactical medicine for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the new Ukrainian police.
Moreover, in 2015 Medsanbat launched three video clips on medsanbat.info web site. They are aimed at informing civilians about recommended ways to act when the threat of military actions occurs. The goal is to help curbing the great number of civil victims of conflict.
