The Foundation targets at attracting attention to the HIV/AIDS problem, implementing large-scale informational and educational campaigns; supporting relevant projects on HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment as well as diminishing stigma and discrimination of people living with HIV/AIDS.

Elena Pinchuk graduated from Dnepropetrovsk state university the faculty of economic. In 1995-1996 worked at the PrivatBank economic department. Since 1997 is working as a deputy director of the marketing director of Kyivstar Telecommunication Company – the first private mobile connection provider in Ukraine. Elena is a wife of Viktor Pinchuk, the famous industrialist, Ukrainian Parliamentarian and co-founder of the ANTIAIDS Foundation.

Elena Pinchuk, founder of the ANTIAIDS Foundation: “My daughter is 5 months only and my son is 12 years old. I always think of their future and of the future of other Ukrainian children. Today our economy and our country are developing, but there is serious problem that becomes a huge challenge for Ukraine. I am talking about rapid increase in HIV/AIDS cases in Ukraine. According to the WHO experts data there are already 500,000 of HIV-infected people in Ukraine. This is approximately 1% of the general population that means 1 out of 100 Ukrainians. This challenge is invisible, intangible so far and that brings additional troubles. If we manage to change behavior patterns and attitudes towards the problem we would be able to protect ourselves from the danger. And I am sure that we can succeed in it”.

The main goal of our media campaign is to make people change their attitude to HIV/AIDS. People should stop treating AIDS as somebody else’s problem, far away from their lives. We want to say to every person, living in Ukraine: today this problem is yours; it concerns you and your future. At the same time we want to support and strengthen those actions which already have been made in combating HIV/AIDS. I hope that my experience in designing and conducting advertising and informational campaigns would become the good contribution to the activities underway”.

On December 12th, 2003 under the support of Elena Pinchuk ANTIAIDS Foundation the concert of the world famous musicians – the conductor Vladimir Spivakov and the singer Jessy Norman – will be held in the National Opera of Ukraine. The funds raised from the concert will serve to repair Kiev “Beryozka” Orphanage which is the home for HIV-positive children.

Elena Pinchuk says: “Setting up of the Foundation is an initiative of two people. I believe that a lot of Ukrainians would join us to invest in health and future of our country”.
