For the fist time in 57-year history of the Miss World contest Ukraine will be represented in jury
The participation of Ukrainian representative as a member of Miss World 2007 jury is not by accident – this time the contest focuses attention on the world-wide AIDS epidemic. Traditionally the contest draws attention of its audience to the different social problems.
“I’ve agreed with pleasure to join panel of judges of the Miss World contest, furthermore the Final will be held on December the 1st – on the World AIDS Day. In October Miss World 2006 Tat’ana Kucharova visited Ukraine to participate in the social fashion show Love Fashion AID. Together we visited an orphanage and AIDS clinic. Paying her attention to the AIDS problem in Ukraine, she stressed again that nobody could keep a distance from the important social issues. Miss World visit was a great example of attention and tolerance toward people affected by epidemic,” – Elena Pinchuk said.
“Miss World slogan is Beauty with a Purpose. All contestants and especially the winners traditionally involved in a number of social and charitable projects. Ukrainian participant of the Miss World 2007 Lika Roman is also involved into the several social projects like “Youth against drugs”, “The Heart of the Earth – change yourself, change the world”, “Pure beauty”, - Lilia Kuznecova, Head of the Miss Ukraine National Committee, said. – I’m proud that Ukrainian representative joined the panel of judges this year. It is great honor for the country and recognition of the efforts that country direct to the solve number of social problems,” – Lilia Kuznecova highlights.
Among the “Miss World 2007” jury is the older daughter of legendary South African leader Nelson Mandela Maki Mandela devoted her life to the fight against AIDS following her father’s example; well-known fashion-designer Ben De Lisi; music star Duncan James; owner of American model agency Elite Models Nil Hamil; the star of the high-fashion world Nancy De Lalio; famous actor Martin Kamp; Champion of Wimbledon and today TV star Annabel Croft; Ambassador of the Miss World contest Krish Najdu; Founder of ANTIAIDS Foundation Elena Pinchuk. The chairman of the jury is Julia Morley, the owner of the “Miss World” contest brand.
